Excerpt from Bulletin of the American Academy of Medicine, 1907, Vol. 8 As the character of subscribers and readers varies infinitely, their wants are as the sands by the sea. Our discussion will be limited to such as desire medical journals: first for aid in personal work; and second for promoting the interests of the profession. Of subscribers whose sole object is immediate re turns in money or reputation, irrespective of quality or quantity of service, and who care nothing for the honor of the profession, we cannot speak - they are unspeakable - the Judas Iscariots the Benedict Arnolds. Nor can we speak for those who were never made for doctors, either by nature or training, and whose education, both general and technical, is of the most meagre sort. The subscribers for whom we speak, want medical journals that have something to say, who say it, and then stop. Excerpt from Bulletin of the American Academy of Medicine, Vol. 5: August, 1900 to June, 1902 There always have been objections to the multiplication of legislative enactments relating to marriage, but these objections are gradually being met and overcome. It has been said, for instance, that the enforcement of stringent marriage laws defeats its own purpose and results in free love, with all its train of evils, and thus tends to increase, rather than to diminish, pauper ism, criminality, and other defectiveness. But for those so weak and base as to respect not the law, another and more potent remedy is at hand - I refer to that of asexualization. Although many objections are being raised to this operation. I have little doubt but that during the early part of the next cen tury it will become a well-recognized and legalized practice.
